Upcoming Renault Cars in India – Know Price, Spec, Launch Date


Renault Motors made entry into the Indian market with Fluence in 2012 and has not looked back ever since. Riding high on the success of Duster and Kwid, the French carmaker Renault is planning to bring a host of new cars in the Indian market in order to diversify its portfolio. Renault cars have caught the fancy of the Indian buyers due to their superb ride quality and fuel efficiency. Here is the list of upcoming Renault cars in India that includes sedans, hatchbacks, MPVs as well as SUVs:

1. Renault Kaptur

Renault plans to make a foray into the compact SUV segment with its upcoming car – Kaptur. The car was unveiled on March 2016 in Moscow and where it will be manufactured and launched first. A prototype of the car is being tested in India and it is expected to hit the Indian shores by October 2017. Kaptur will be based on Duster’s M0 platform and will host a 1.6-litre petrol engine along with 1.5-litre K9K , 108 bhp diesel mill. Transmission options would include 5-speed manual and automatic. This sub-four meter compact SUV will compete with Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tuscon, Tata Hexa and Volkswagen Tiguan. Being more premium, it would be priced higher than Duster. It is expected to be one of the most stylish Renault cars in India.

Expected Launch Date – Late 2017
Expected Price – Rs. 10 – 14 lakh

2. Renault Clio

After wowing the world with its looks and features, Clio, the hatchback from Renault motors , is all set to impress the Indian buyers. This is one of the highest selling cars from the company’s stable. Armed with a sporty exterior based on DeZire concept and aesthetically done up, feature-rich interiors, Clio will take on the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto, Honda Jazz, and Maruti Suzuki Swift in India. It will pack the same engine as Capture- the 1.5-litre K9K diesel along with the TCe petrol engne.

3. Renault Laguna

Renault currently has Scala and Fluence in the sedan category of the Indian market, both of which have met with lukewarm response so far. In a hope to end the drought in this segment, the French carmaker is launching Laguna that will replace the Fluence sedan. It will be powered by the same K9K engine found on Captur and Duster. It may carry a new nameplate when it enters India and will fall in Rs. 12-15 lakh price bracket.

4. Renault Modus

Modus is going to be a premium hatchback from the company that will rival Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia, Ford Figo and the likes. Modus is doing brisk business for the company in international markets by virtue of its arresting looks and premium features. It will be packed with 1.2-litre, 100bhp petrol engine and will also offer a 1.5-litre, 90bhp diesel engine. The car is expected to be priced quite competitively starting from Rs 4 lakh.

5. Renault Dokker

Renault Dokker is another one of Renault cars that will be launched in the current year. This MPV was launched in the international market in 2011 and will be one of the most spacious Renault cars in India. It will be offered in four different engine options -1.2 TCe , 115 bhp and 1.6-litre MPI, 85 bhp petrol engines and two tunes of 1.5-litre diesel engine emitting 75 bhp and 90 bhp respectively . It will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Nissan Evalia.

6. Renault Talisman

Tailsman is an upcoming D-segment sedan from the automaker. It will replace the Laguna sedan in the international markets. This stylish full size luxury car debuted at the Frankfurt Motor show in 2015. Talisman is expected to be powered by a wide range of two petrol and three diesel engine options. The transmission options would include 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. It will be up against Skoda Superb and the upcoming Volkswagen Passat.

7. Renault Kwid 1.0 litre AMT

The most anxiously awaited of all upcoming Renault cars in India is the latest model of Kwid that sports an automatic gearbox. This 1.0-litre AMT model is expected to challenge the dominance of its closest rival Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. The Kwid has silenced its critics with its wonderful performance and has been a surprise hit. This new version will not get any exterior or interior changes but just the automatic transmission. The 1.0-litre petrol engine delivers close to 70 bhp of power and the model will return around 24 kmpl of mileage.

8. Renault Duster 7 Seater

Launched in the year 2012, Renault Duster is one of the few Renault cars in India that has taken the Indian market by storm. To keep up with the growing competition, the company is about to launch new generation models of the car in both 5 seat and 7 seat versions. The latter would be launched one year after the former. The seven seater version will feature extended dimensions and is likely to retain the same petrol and diesel engines of the current 5 seater Duster. It will serve as an ideal competitor to Mahindra XUV500.

9. Renault Scenic

Grand Scenic is a stylish Utility vehicle from Renulat Motors and is one of the best selling MPVs in Europe. The company is planning to launch Scenic (Smaller version of Grand Scenic) in India that will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Aria and Skoda Yeti. This seven seater MPV boasts of contemporary styling, plush interiors, unmatched practicality and new-age features.

10. Renault Lodgy AMT

Close on the heels of launching the face lifted version of Duster with AMT transmission, Renault has plans to launch a new 6-speed Easy-R AMT automated manual transmission on its MPV Lodgy. This Easy-R variant will be competitively priced and is likely to be offered in two variants, both carrying the 108 bhp version of the engine – just like on Duster. The variants would be available at a price of Rs. 50,000 more than the regular manual transmission variants.
