Being the second largest carmaker in India is no mean feat but Hyundai Motors refuses to rest on its laurels. The company has several releases lined up in 2016 and 2017. Here is a list of top 10 Hyundai Cars that are slated to be launched in coming years. From crossovers to compact MPVs and from facelift versions of popular models to revival of old models, the Hyundai factory is churning several new and exciting products to give sleepless nights to its closest rival, Maruti Suzuki. 1. New Hyundai Tucson

One of the most anticipated cars among Hyundai upcoming cars in India is Tucson, a full fledged SUV, that is ready for its second innings. The car was first launched in India but owing to poor sales, the company withdrew it from the market. The car is going to be much more flamboyant and stylish in its new avatar. Also known as ix25 in the international markets, Tucson is aimed at filling the gap between Creta and Santa Fe. Falling in the price bracket of Rs 18 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh, this beast will hit the Indian roads by late 2016 or by early 2017. The car is expected to carry a 1.7-litre diesel engine that emits 114 bhp of power. It will offer direct competition to Honda BR-V.

2. New Generation Hyundai Verna

The new Verna was shown in a concept form at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show and is one of the most anticipated Hyundai upcoming cars. The car picks a lot of its design elements from its younger sibling, i20. The new model will be much more spacious on the inside and its exterior design will be based on the company’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. This face-lifted version will continue to offer stiff competition to bigwigs like Honda City and Maruti Ciaz in the premium sedan segment.

3. New Hyundai Elantra

Having made its debut at the LA Auto show and been recently showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2016. With the all new Elantra, the company has tried a radically different look. The car is not based on the Fluidic Sculpture Design philosophy as earlier but now flaunts a design based heavily on Sonata. The car is quite a looker with a sleek appearance and aerodynamic profile. It will also offer a better level of equipment than before.
In all probability, the car will debut with the Hyundai’s new 1.6-litre, 130+ bhp, GDI engine. It will continue to offer the existing 1.6-litre diesel engine as well.

4. Hyundai Eon Facelift

Eon, the entry level hatchback from the Korean carmaker, has not been updated since its launch in the year 2011. The company has been testing the facelifted version of the car for three years now and the car is expected to be launched in festival season of 2016. The entry of Renault Kwid in this segment has heated up the competition like never before and it is time now for Hyundai to tighten its laces and get ready to face the competition head on. The car will not undergo any mechanical changes and will continue to carry the same set of engines including the 800cc unit and the 1.0-litre, 3 cylinder engine. The company is likely to introduce an automatic gearbox on the car. Subtle changes on the exterior and interior front are expected.

5. Hyundai Hexa Space

Planning to make its presence felt in the MUV category, Hyundai Motors is readying to launch Hexa Space in India. It was showcased in the concept form at 2012 Auto Expo. The car will be based on the i10 platform and will lock horns with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. Just like Verna, the carmaker may fit Hexa Space with 1.4-litre and 1.6-litres engines.

6. Hyundai Carlino Compact SUV

With Maruti Suzuki having tasted success with its sub-4-meter compact SUV, Vitara Brezza, Hyundai is keen on entering this segment too. Carlino, the boxy shaped SUV, was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in the concept form and is likely to undergo production soon. Carlino would be positioned below Creta and will be powered by 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre diesel mills. Apart from Vitara Brezza, it will compete with Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the same segment.

7. New Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Motors unveiled the plug-in hybrid sedan, Sonata, at the Auto Expo this year. The well known nameplate of Sonata is likely to work in favour of the company. It is likely to feature a 2.0-litre “Nu” GDI 4-cylinder engine that will be combined with a 38W electric motor. The car will carry several best-in-class features and will pick design cues from Genesis.

8. Facelifted Santa Fe

Santa Fe, the most expensive one among all Hyundai cars, is ready for a makeover. Its facelifted version will be launched by May 2017. The car will flaunt a sharper styling and many features would be added to already long feature list of the car. Some of the new features being added are Red-cross traffic alert, Emergency braking, Smart Cruise Control, High beam assist etc. The company will probably carry on with the same 2.2-litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine that pumps out 194bhp of power and 420 Nm of peak torque.

9. Hyundai i30

By the end of this year, one will be able to see another one of Hyundai cars, which is a 3-door premium hatch by the Korean carmaker named i30. It was also shown at the Auto Expo held this year and would be placed above i20. The interior of the car will be stuffed with top-notch features, borrowed mostly from Elantra. The exterior design too will be based on Elantra. It is likely to share engine specifications with Creta. It’s petrol versions could include 1.4-litre (84PS) and 1.6-litre Dual VTVT (120 PS) unit while the diesel versions might be equipped with 1.6-litre U2 CRDi (110 PS) unit. Its large wheelbase will make it the most spacious hatchback in the league. i30 will rival the likes of Fiat Abarth Punto and Volkswagen Polo GTi.

10. New Hyundai Santro

Santro is another one among Hyundai upcoming cars that could stage a return by the next year. The car helped the company to establish ground in India when it entered the Indian market in 1997. Placed above Eon, it will replace the current i10 and will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine. It will lock horns with Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Alto K10.
