Honda cars India had tossed up several new vehicles at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo in February. The company is now slated to roll them out one by one. Bookings for the Honda BRV has opened, and the Japanese carmaker is all set to bring out some new models, along with facelifts to the existing ones to keep the momentum going. While the City is one of the bestselling Honda cars in India and will get a midlife facelift this year, we may just see the Accord making a comeback. Car enthusiasts are about to see more Honda cars in India in the coming days.

We have zeroed in on 10 upcoming cars from the Honda stable, expected to be soon seen on Indian roads. Read on to know more.

1. Honda Accord Hybrid

Accord, like we said, is readying for a comeback in its hybrid avatar. The car has been in India since the 2000s. It was a fuel guzzler with no diesel option available. Honda cars India is going for a better fuel efficient version of Accord and will introduce its hybrid version. The company has localised the premium sedan and it’ll be the first premium hybrid sedan ever. Toyota Camry is the only other hybrid sedan available. The Honda Hybrid will be fitted with an electric motor and a 2.0 litre petrol engine. Government subsidy on electric and hybrid cars would help reduce the price of the vehicle.

2. Honda Vezel

The Vezel has already been launched in Japan in a hybrid trim. It’s slated to be introduced in India shortly, and was showcased at the New Delhi Auto Expo in February. The petrol version will be powered by a 4-cylinder, 16 valve, 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine, which is identical to the Honda City. It will be delightful how the engine, which is behind the City’s success, performs on the Vezel. The 1498cc diesel trim returns an awesome 21kmpl mileage.

3. Honda Brio SUV

This compact SUV from Honda, as the name suggests, is based on the Brio platform. It’s believed that the car may take design inspirations from the Vision XS-1. Honda has kept most details of the car under wraps. The unit imported to India is fitted with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which powers the City, Mobilio, and Amaze. The 7-seater car is expected to feed the growing demand for affordable SUVs in India.

4. Honda City Facelift

The Honda City Facelift will be the Japanese company’s answer to the 2017 Hyundai Verna which is set for a grand re-entrance. The car will have an updated petrol engine and a number of bells and whistles. Honda has been long working to increase the localisation of City and its entire platform. The Honda City Facelift will sport a new front grille with no major upgrades. The City won’t want to relinquish its position as the segment leader, particularly when the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz recently got an SHVS upgrade with a petrol automatic due on its higher trims.

5. Honda Civic

The Civic is all set for a comeback, and will get a diesel option for the first time. The car will be powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine, churning about 150bhp power. The diesel will be of 1.5 litre with 100bhp output. The Honda Civic looks sporty and is expected to find many takers in the Indian market. It’s likely to bolster the presence of Honda cars in India. Owners of multiple cars, wanting to up the luxury quotient, needed something more than the City. The new Honda Civic may just cater to that demand.

6. Honda HRV

Based on the Honda Jazz platform, Honda HRV is a compact SUV and shares many design elements with its hatchback sibling. It sports a new front grille with LED headlamps, sporty rear design, and a sloping roofline. The interior seems to be inspired by the CRV. Features like the touchscreen infotainment and climate control, and steering wheel mounted controls, are borrowed from the CRV. The Honda HRV is available globally in a 1.6 litre, 118bhp i-DTEC diesel, and a 1.8 litre 14bhp petrol option. The Indian version is likely to be fitted with a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine.

7. New Honda Brio

Codenamed 2UA, the new Honda Brio is already being tested. It’s expected to come in a 1.2 litre petrol engine. The diesel variant is unlikely to go into production. The Brio will be one of those Honda cars in India that will be tweaked for other South East Asian markets later. There will be several elements made in India, including the design. The car, upon its launch, has to take on rivals like the new Chevrolet Beat, the Hyundai Grand i10, and the all new Ford Figo.

8. Honda WRV

Honda cars in India will enter a new segment with the WRV. The compact crossover would have to lock horns with the Hyundai i20 Active. The Honda WRV is based on the Honda Jazz platform, with better ground clearance and rugged looks. But the car would be marginally different than the Jazz and WRV. It’s now codenamed as 2FM. The WRV will be one of the new Honda cars and a good option for those who want a Jazz with funky looks.

9. New Honda Amaze

The next-gen Honda Amaze is already under production while the company has just launched the car’s facelift version. The new Amaze will sport similar dimensions, with a sub-four metre length. There will be a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel versions of the affordable sub-compact sedan. The new car would excel with more features, increased space and with enhanced interior quality. The Amaze in not merely a powerful car, it’s one of the most fuel efficient cars in India. One of the major upcoming cars from Honda, the Amaze will feature more localisation, and that will make the vehicle a great value for money and compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

10. New Honda CRV

Besides the new Amaze and Brio, the company will be unveiling the new generation Honda CRV. The car will be powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine. Honda is actively considering a CRV hybrid, and like the Honda Accord Hybrid, this one too may come fitted with an electric motor. The car will be seven-seater, while a five-seater version may be made exclusively for the Indian market. The Europen version of the new Honda CRV would share the chassis with the Honda Civic. The wheelbase of the CRV is likely to increase by approximately 80mm over the present version. Proportionately the car could be closer to the Nissan X-Trail.

2017 could well be the windfall year for Honda cars in India. The company is banking on it new releases and upgrades to the existing models to capture a better share of the market pie. All the new launches are spread across segments, right from compact hatchbacks to premium sedans and it may not want to leave diesel cars out of its portfolio.
