At the Geneva Motor Show 2015, Ignis was first shown as the Suzuki iM-4 concept and was later unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor show. The car is already on sale in the Japanese market and the India bound model bears a lot of resemblance to it. But the model coming to India will miss out on some of the features found on the Japanese model like Suzuki’s adaptive Dual Camera Breaking system (DCBS), Hill Descent Control, Lane Management system, Four wheel drive system, rear and side camera for parking assist, etc. The vehicle is also going to debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show to be held in October. As the car is based on Baleno hatchback platform, that is exported in over 100 countries, we expect Ignis also to be exported from India.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis price would fall in the range of Rs. 5 – Rs. 7 lakh and would be positioned below Vitara Brezza. Being a sub 4-meter crossover, Maruti Suzuki Ignis price would benefit from the excise duty cuts offered by the government. It will lock horns with the recently launched Mahindra KUV100 and will also compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport. There were some rumours regarding the launch of the car being shifted to 2017, but the company has made it clear that it would go ahead with the launch this festive season itself. The car would be the third premium product to be offered through NEXA outlets and would become the most affordable car at these dealerships.
Maruti is very confident about the success of Ignis, already buoyed by the stupendous success of Ciaz and good response for Baleno and Vitara Brezza. As the countdown for the launch for Maruti Suzuki Ignis begins, the Maruti fans would be eager to watch the car on Indian roads.
