Skoda Kodiaq will make its India debut in September 2017 and will be the new flagship vehicle for the company. It will compete directly with Ford Endeavour, the refresh version of which has recently been released. Ford Endeavour 2016 has received a slight cut in its prices in three trims. Skoda Kodiaq vs Ford Endeavour is going to be an exciting contest since both the SUVs will fall in the similar price bracket and sport high-end features.

Skoda Kodiaq vs Ford Endeavour – Spec Comparison
Skoda Kodiaq will be available in India in just diesel avatar. The newly developed 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine may follow later. Ford Endeavour also offers just diesel engine and no petrol engine is expected in future. Both the vehicles offer a choice between manual and automatic gearboxes and also offer a choice between front wheel and all-wheel drive.
Globally, Skoda Kodiaq comes in many different engine options but the India-bound model is expected to be offered in just the 2.0-litre diesel version in two states of tune. This turbocharged diesel engine is likely to churn out 177 bhp of power and 340 Nm of peak torque in its first version while the second one will emit 189 bhp of power and 400 Nm of peak torque.
Ford Endeavour sports bigger diesel engines than Kodiaq. The smaller 2.2-litre engine produces 157 bhp of power and 385 Nm of torque while the bigger 3.2-litre mill develops 196 bhp of power and 490 Nm of torque.
Transmission option on Kodiaq will include 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG while that on Ford Endeavour include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

Skoda Kodiaq is impressive on the mileage front. The 2.0-litre, 177 bhp engine offers a fuel economy of 18.5 kmpl and 17.5 kmpl in the manual and automatic transmission versions. The 2.0-litre 189 bhp engine returns a decent 17.5 kmpl of mileage. Ford Endeavour lies low with 14.12/12.62 kmpl of mileage from the smaller engine and just 10.91 kmpl of fuel economy from the larger engine.

Kodiaq is the first seven seater vehicle from the company and is a little wider than Endeavour, which means that three persons can sit in total comfort in the second and third rows. Kodiaq is based on the Vision S concept and built on Volkswagen MBQ platform. It gets sharp lines along with crystalline elements. The design is very much close to its sibling Superb. The front end of the car looks spectacular with large radiator grille and two double headlights. The sloping roofline and the tapered rear-end make way for a lovely side profile. In its latest avatar, Ford Endeavour looks more evolved and premium. It is based on Ford’s Edge design philosophy and gets striking features like trapezoidal chrome grille, revised fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, swept-back projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, wraparound tail lamps, sunroof etc.
Crux – Design wise, it is Skoda Kodiaq that outsmarts Ford Endeavour.
Both the vehicles get plush interior with emphasis on utmost comfort and convenience of the passengers. The layout of the dashboard looks almost identical. Kodiaq is on the elegant side with an all-black colour scheme. It gets a multi-functional, three-spoke steering wheel that has a sober design. The seats come covered in faux leather upholstery.
Ford Endeavour offers a more commanding cockpit view and it has got a chunky steering wheel as a highlight. There is a generous helping of leather and well-textured plastic. The black and beige colour scheme lends the cabin an air of sophistication.
The boot space on Kodiaq is much larger at 720 litres with all the seats up, when compared to 450 litres of Endeavour.
Crux – Both Kodiaq and Endeavour offer well appointed cabin that offers ample space and are high on aesthetics.
Both the SUVs come choc-a-bloc with several high-end features. The Ford SYNC2 interface on Endeavour is impressive and the car also offers the first-in-segment Wi-Fi setup. Motorised tailgate and third row seats, moonroof, 8 inch TFT touch screen infotainment system, Dual Zone automatic climate control, cruise control, rear camera with display are striking elements in the feature list.
Skoda Kodiaq is not far behind. It offers 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment system, Skoda ConnectApp, Adaptive Cruise Control, Area View System, etc. as striking features. While the Terrain Management system hosted by Endeavour is a part of the package, Skoda Kodiaq comes with an optional off-road mode for the all wheel drive versions.

Safety Specs Comparison
Skoda Kodiaq is likely to host eight airbags along with most common electronic aids. It might also offer optional Dynamic Chassi Control System apart from ABS with EBD, Cruise control, parking sensors etc.
Endeavour receives 5-star safety ratings with features like front airbags, side curtain airbags, driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability control, Emergency Brake Assist etc.
Crux – Both the cars stand neck to neck in the safety department.
Kodiaq’s engine might look weaker on paper but the light its light weight may make a better performer. While it is too early to comment of the actual performance of Kodiaq, its low ground clearance of 180 mm will give it an edge in the handling department.
A good ground clearance of 225 mm aids in the off-roading capabilities of Endeavour. It comes equipped with Terrain Management system to tackle different types of terrains with ease. The 3.2-litre engine is obviously the real charmer that displays enough grunt and offers a remarkable performance.
Crux – While Endeavour promises to take on rough terrains with aplomb, Skoda Kodiaq will be more suited to comfortable city and Highway ride.

More than an thoroughbred off roader, Skoda Kodiaq will most probably be projected as a family car. It has got the looks, a plush cabin and is high on technology as well.
Ford Endeavour has a different personality altogether that is more suited to off-roading. It offers class-leading ride comfort and a good equipment list. The engine is more powerful and hungry.
