The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo is all set to launch the Plug-In Hybrid variant of XC90 in India, on September 14. It was last year when Volvo launched its XC90 SUV with two diesel variants in the Indian market and now, is looking to expand its lineup by launching the first eco-friendly, plug-in hybrid SUV to be driven on Indian roads as, all-new XC90 Plug-In Hybrid.

The Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid will be powered by a twin-charged 2.0 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor which can collectively generate a power of 400 PS and Torque of 640 Nm. Like the existing XC90 SUV, this hybrid version will be an all four wheel drive, driven through an 8-speed ‘Geartronic’ automatic gearbox. All-new Volvo XC90 Plug-In hybrid will be having three driving modes, Pure (electric mode), Hybrid (either electric or petrol) and Power (both electric and petrol).

Volvo has always been a leader in terms of safety, luxury and comfort. The Volvo XC90 hybrid too ensures that the luxury and safety are not compromised, keeping the high performance and eco-friendliness as a priority. The power adjustable Nappa leather seats are equipped with massage function and adjustable seat temperature control. Along with a 9-inch infotainment system for front, ‘excellence console’ is available for rear passengers by which the heating and elevation of rear seats can be controlled. Apart from these features, the upcoming XC90 hybrid is provided with numerous essential features like park assist camera, high-quality audio system, and cruise control.
The price of the new XC90 plug-in hybrid edition is expected to be somewhere between 1.35 crore to 1.40 crore. Volvo will start the delivery process from October 2016 and the booking of hybrid excellence can be done by paying a booking amount of Rs 20 lakh at the nearest Volvo showroom.
