Volvo S90 On Its Way To India

In order to push the market share in an effective manner the Swedish automaker is gearing up to extend its line-up in the country. After Volvo XC90 T8 launch, the next on cards is the Volvo S90 sedan which is all set to launch on November 4, 2016. Volvo S90 is the replacement of the ageing S80 and based on modular SPA platform, featuring the latest design language that was first seen on the XC90. Even the cabin of Volvo S90 shares some styling cues with the SUV sibling XC90, which promise to offer great comfort and space for occupants.

Considering the power unit of the upcoming S90, there will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine with multiple state of tune. The D4 tune will be delivering 190 hp maximum power while the D5 iteration delivers 235 hp maximum power. The engines will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Initially, only the D4 tune engine will be offered in the market and D5 iteration will join later. In addition, a hybrid version will also be offered to attract customers.

The S90 will be available in fully loaded Inscription trim only and will get standard features like cruise control, parking camera, sensors, drive modes, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with subwoofer, rear air suspension, satellite navigation, four-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, electric adjust front seats with memory and a powered tailgate. It is expected that Volvo S90 price will be around INR 55-59 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival the likes of Audi A6, BMW 5-series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes E-Class. The booking of the upcoming S90 have already started and after the launch, deliveries will start in December. The company has set a target of 251 pre-orders before deliveries commence.
