Tata is working hard to position itself in the Indian market with a different identity and it is quite evident from the new model lineup. The recently launched Tiago has been a great hit in the market and it can be seen from the 3 months waiting period for this hatchback. Considering the good response from the customers and class-leading features, the manufacturer also raised the price of Tiago by up to INR 6000 few days back and now the manufacturer is set to introduce an upgraded version of Tiago.

First, the manufacturer will launch Kite 5 sedan in October then the company is planning to launch Tiago Plus in November. Though the brand has not made an official statement about Tiago Plus launch but, the company is planning to use the Bolt Sport engine. As the response of Bolt was not as expected, the Indian automaker has kept Bolt Sport production on hold and it might introduce Tiago Plus instead. Tiago Plus might employ the Bolt Sport engine which produces 120 PS maximum power or a turbocharged, revamped version of 3-cylinder ‘Revotron’ petrol engine.

Currently the Tiago engine produces 85PS of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque. If this hatchback is equipped with a turbocharged engine then along with power figures, the fuel economy will be a point of concern that need to be addressed in an appropriate manner to make this Tiago Plus version a hit. Currently, the entry level performance centric hatches are gaining significant response from the Indian customers and making an entry in the particular segment with a successful car might act as a smart step for Tata.
Once in the market, it might undercut the market share of Baleno RS and Abarth Punto which are the only cars available in the performance hatch segment.
