Maruti-Suzuki is working hard to boost its line-up with the advanced and effective models and it looks like that the hard work is also paying off significantly, as most of its recent launches are on an average waiting period of 3 months. Another car under Maruti’s tag which can soon be witnessed on roads is the Ignis, which is expected to be launched in the upcoming festive season of Diwali. Previously, there were rumours that Suzuki Ignis launch is postponed to early next year but, according to some media sources the launch can take place anytime in near future.

Like Baleno, the Suzuki Ignis will be marketed under the premium dealership of Maruti, Nexa. It was inferred that in order to reduce the waiting period of Vitara Brezza and Baleno, the company has postponed the launch of Ignis but, it looks like that Maruti has some different plans for now. Considering the booking backlog, the manufacturer has stated that the Gujarat plant will soon be functional, resulting in improved production rate. The Suzuki Ignis was first showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and will be positioned in the Mini crossover segment.

Mahindra has already introduced its KUV100 in the segment and Ignis will be the only rival of the car and second option for Indian customers in the particular segment. Under the hood, it might hold a 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine with a maximum power output of 83 hp and peak torque of 115 Nm. Expected to be priced between INR 5 -7 lakh, the company has claimed that Ignis is a car with SUV characteristics combined with latest technology, uniqueness and innovation. Along with Baleno and Brezza, Ignis will be also manufactured at the Gujarat plant. Let’s see how the new plant of the company cut down the waiting period of Maruti’s cars.
