SsangYong Tivoli Caught Testing In India

The upcoming crossover from the Korean manufacturer, SsangYong Tivoli has been caught as test mule first time in India. The SsangYong crossover was caught in Chennai by the team of Moto.Vikatan. SsangYong was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and recently the Mahindra-owned Korean automaker has launched it in Nepal at NPR 5,375,000. With this recent launch, the new crossover can be expected in India soon.

SsangYong has its presence in the country with Rexton SUV and Tivoli is the upcoming crossover to extend the line-up. Currently, it is not confirmed by Mahindra’s officials on the launch of Tivoli in India. But, they have confirmed that the company is evaluating on launching it in the Indian market. To make SsangYong Tivoli competitive in the market, Mahindra will manufacture it in the local plant. If the model comes to India, it will be similar to the UK-spec model. With a handful of features, the SsangYong Tivoli will be similar to the UK-spec model.

The all-new Tivoli will be available in both the petrol and diesel variants and is aimed against the top guns. The petrol variant will be equipped with a 1.6-litre engine which will be delivering a maximum power of 124 hp and peak torque of 160 Nm. Whereas, the diesel variant will feature 1.6-litre turbo engine with top power of 113 hp and peak torque of 300 Nm. Both the options will be available with 6-speed manual/ automatic transmission. For the global market, the all-new Tivoli will be available with 4×4 drive system. But, for Indian market, it is not confirmed yet.

To be placed against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Skoda Yeti and Tata Hexa, the SsangYong Tivoli will be priced in a range of 15 to 17 lakhs.
