Skoda Kodiaq has made quite a buzz in the auto industry since the Czech automaker has released the sketches of its upcoming SUV. Another car, which has gained the attention of auto enthusiast is Octavia RS, which is gearing up to make a comeback in the country. Skoda is planning to introduce Kodiaq SUV, Rapid Facelift and Octavia RS in 2017. In addition to this, a sporty version of Rapid and Octavia, named the Rapid Monte Carlo and Octavia Black edition with ‘Action Models’ badge is also in the line-up for 2017.

Looking at the potential of Indian market, the Czech automaker is planning to extend its line-up to improve its market share by investing INR 100 crore in bolstering the dealership network in the country. Further to emphasize on safety aspect, the company will make ABS standard on all the models by the end of December. Skoda Kodiaq is set to make its debut on September 1 in Berlin, which will feature the evolution of Skoda’s angular styling which was first showcased as VisionS concept.

For the Indian market, Skoda Kodiaq will be the third car to be based on the MQB platform and might share the same engine of its sedan sibling – the Skoda Superb. The Kodiaq SUV might equip 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI engines while the Octavia RS might pack a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine capable of churning out maximum power of 230 PS. After the discontinuation of Laura vRS, the new Skoda Octavia RS will be the fastest series in the Skoda’s line-up, clocking 100 kmph mark from naught in just 6.7 seconds, before marking a top speed of 250 kmph (electronically limited).

Once in the market, the Octavia vRS will face competition against the Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla Altis. Whereas, the Skoda Kodiaq will be competing against SsangYong Rexton, Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
