Skoda Octavia Facelift Revealed

When the updated Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra have already made their entry in the respective segment, it is the Czech Republican automaker, Skoda to place its bet. Yes, Skoda Octavia facelift has been finally revealed with refreshed styling and is expected to make its Indian entry next year. The current generation of Octavia is on sale since 2013 and with the first set of images revealed by Skoda, the new Octavia looks aggressive and competent. The highlight of the updated Skoda Octavia is the new front which now features a new quad-headlamp design replacing the traditional unit.

These new set of headlights are accompanied with refreshed front bumper that beautifully holds the fog lights. At the sides, there are no major changes except the new alloy-wheel design. The rear profile is also same with just the tweaked taillights and bumper. In the cabin, a large 9.2-inch touchscreen display, is equipped for the “Columbus infotainment system”. The current generation comes with “Bolero” infotainment system in the Indian market and it remains to be seen when Skoda will replace it with the higher one. The new Octavia will also get capacitive-touch buttons on the centre console, which improves the overall experience of the user.

Other equipment include lighting package, which can be also witnessed on the new Superb and foldable picnic tables mounted on the front seats in the higher variants. The engine options will include the 1.4-litre, 1.8-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. Along with the Skoda Octavia facelift, the other models which are due for launch include Octavia RS, Octavia Black Edition, Rapid facelift, Rapid Monte Carlo and Skoda’s answer to Toyota Fortuner, the Kodiaq. Currently, the Skoda Octavia faces competition from Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and Volkswagen Jetta.

With Skoda Octavia facelift, the competition might get interesting in the respective segment, as the automaker is offering advanced features with competitive styling, which might act as a beneficial package for the customers.
