After introducing the 1.0-litre engine version of the much-acclaimed Renault Kwid, now the French automaker is keeping its eye to focus on the automatic version of its compact hatch. The manufacturer has teased the first image of the Renault Kwid AMT in which a rotary gear selector image has been released. Before this, the Renault Kwid AMT was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 and now the company is gearing up for its launch soon. According to the reports revealed previously, the Renault Kwid AMT will be available in both, the 1.0 SCe and 0.8 SCe, though the smaller engine unit might be introduced at a later stage.

The rotary gear will be placed next to the front power window controls, near the driver’s left knee, which will further improve the storage space in front row. As seen in the image, the AMT will come with three modes, Drive (D), Neutral (N), and Reverse (R) but, manual/sport model will not be there. Like the manual version, the Renault Kwid AMT will be also a 5-speed unit. Along with this, the new AMT version will be also equipped with creep/crawl function. The creep function will allow driver to move as low as 2-5 kmph by simply leaving the brake pedal, helpful while parking or moving in slow traffic.

The pricing of the upcoming variant is not released by the company but, it is expected that the AMT version will be INR 40,000 – 45,000 costly than the range-topping variant, as it will be only offered in this variant. There will be no change in the engine configuration and both the available engines will deliver the same output with a slight dip in the fuel economy.
