Renault Kwid is one of the most competitive cars in the affordable hatchback segment. With its stylish looks and strong brand endorsement the car has been able to capture a good share of the said market segment. But things are soon to take a more profitable dip for this Renault kid, as its stronger sibling is on its way to further impress prospective buyers. Yes, the 2016 Auto Expo debutant Renault Kiwd 1.0-litre SCe variant is now open for bookings.

Renault Kwid 1.0L SCe is expected to launch by the end of this month or by the beginning of September. In short, if one books the 1.0L Kwid now or in upcoming days, they can expect the delivery of the same by October. But there is a small glitch in the system, though all Renault dealerships have begun accepting bookings, the one in Chennai has not opened its booking registers yet.

Until now, Kwid was only available with a 0.8-litre 3-CYL petrol engine configuration. With a powerful mill now entering the league, Renault will be able to feed the needs of a wider consumer base, especially those looking for better power figures. According to experts with the arrival of 1.0L variant, Kwid market share will experience a 5 percent hike. Where the earlier mill generated a maximum power output of 52 hp, the new one in the lot is expected to raise the benchmark by 10 to 15 hp. But raised power figures are claimed to not to degrade Kwid’s ARAI-certified mileage rating of 25.13 km/l. As for the transmission, we are expecting a five-speed manual gearbox a standard option across the entire line-up. However, as per reports top-end model is likely to come tuned with Easy-RAMT option. Later this year, it is expected that an automatic transmission variant will join the 1.0L line-up.

Coming to Kwid 1.0-litre exterior, interior look and feel, we are expecting bear to minimum changes. Maybe a rear 1.0L badging is expected on the body. The front however is sure to witness a heavy change is Kwid’s safety profile. Renault has fitted the 1.0L variant with dual airbags and even ABS holds a good chance on the arrival front. Also, the company has claimed to exceed Kwid’s safety standards far beyond Indian standards by 2017.
Though confirmation on 1.0L Kwid price tag is still due, but we are expecting it to fall in INR 3.3 – 4.2 Lakh bracket.
