The trend which is quite common is soon to be adopted by Renault India. The cars which get popular are usually the ones who get a significant price hike and after Maruti, and Hyundai, Renault India will be the next manufacturer which will soon announce the price hike for its prospective models. The reason for it is quite common, the popularity and the increasing production cost which is the case with other manufacturers also. Sumit Sawhney, CEO and Managing Director of Renault India said, “Yes, we will be increasing the prices as input costs have gone up. We are presently evaluating the period as when to undertake the exercise.”

Company will ensure that the price hike is not very disappointing for the customers and will be around 1-2 percent. Renaulut’s line-up include Kwid, Impulse, Scala, Duster and Lodgy from which Kwid and Duster are the star performers of the company. With Kwid, the company has been able to register 600 percent growth last month and is expected to carry the momentum with the 1.0-litre version launched few weeks back. The particular price hike will not take place at least till Diwali, as this is the festive season and most of the automakers are offering competitive offers to attract the customers.

Along with Renault, Tata Motors is also planning to push the prices of its models in the Indian market. The key competitor of Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra has already increased the prices of some of its commercial and passenger vehicles by up to 1 percent from this month. The only automaker who has slashed the prices of its models in the reign where all the other automakers have pushed the prices is Ford. Let’s see how the increased prices of the models affect the sales of different manufacturers. According to us, the slight price hike to be done by Renault India will not affect the sales that much.
