Staying true to the commitment, the Czech automaker has finally launched the Rapid Facelift today in India. The new Skoda Rapid Facelift holds a starting price tag of INR 8.34 lakh while the top-end variant is priced at INR 12.67 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Mumbai). The cosmetic changes of the sedan are majorly restricted to the front and include revised bumpers, angular, big headlights, daytime running lights, and grille with chrome finish on the boundary. The side and rear profile are merely the same as the previous model mimics the larger Octavia.

The cabin is also quite same with a host of tweaks and new equipment. The list includes cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate controls and MirrorLink touchscreen infotainment limited to the top end variant with AUX, USB, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. The safety front is ensured by ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), and dual front airbags as standard. The other major change of the Rapid Facelift is the new 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine, delivering 110 PS maximum power and 250 Nm peak torque.

The other option is the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine which churns out a maximum power output of 105 PS and peak torque of 152 Nm. The diesel option is available with either a 5-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission while the petrol option is coupled with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic transmission. The fuel economy ranges between 14-15 kmpl for the petrol variant while 21-22 kmpl for the diesel variant. The new Rapid will be competing against the likes of Honda City, Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and soon to be updated Volkswagen Vento.

The recent updates have made the Skoda Rapid facelift a much competent sedan in the segment and with this, the company might witness a significant improvement in the sales. The Rapid facelift will be soon available in the showrooms across the country.
