The new 2016 Volkswagen Vento was showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and will be launched this festive season. The updated model will continue to feature 1.2-litre TSI petrol and 1.6-litre TSI petrol engines found on the present model, both of which churn out 103 bhp of power. The company is going to introduce a new 1.5-litre turbo diesel powertrain emitting 108 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The power output of this engine is 5 bhp more than that of the outgoing 1.5-litre diesel engine.

New 2016 Volkswagen Vento will continue to host the same 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The 7-speeed DSG transmission would be available on TDI as an option and on TSI as standard, just like earlier.

On the exterior front, the car will now host headlamps with LED DRLs and no other change is expected. It must be noted that the 2015 version of the car got a new bumper, LED tail lamps, 3-slat grille and some chrome embellishments.

New equipment on board includes rain sensing wipers, Mirror Link Connectivity, auto dimming IRVM, phone book/ SMS viewer and a touch screen infotainment system.

New 2016 Volkswagen Vento will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Skoda Rapid. It is surprising as well as interesting to note that Maruti Ciaz, a comparatively new entrant into this segment, has emerged as the segment leader toppling Honda City off its throne. The competition is indeed getting fiercer. With the face-lifted Hyundai Verna and Honda City to be launched in 2017, the timing of New 2016 Volkswagen Vento’s launch seems to be just right.
