Mitsubishi’s Upcoming Compact SUV Tagged As Eclipse Cross


Mitsubishi is in the limelight from quite a long time for its upcoming XM Crossover Concept and finally, the Japanese automaker has named it. Yes, the upcoming compact SUV is named as Eclipse Cross and will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. There were a lot of speculations in the market that the upcoming car will carry the coupe model’s name which was on sale from 1989 and was discontinued later. The automaker has just added ‘Cross’ to differentiate from the outdated model.

The Eclipse Cross is one of the much-awaited models from the Mitsubishi and it will go on sale in the US first. It is expected that by the end of this year, the company will begin the sales. After this, the launch will take place in other markets. The upcoming Eclipse Cross will be positioned between Outlander and Pajero Sport. The compact SUV will be competing against Skoda Yeti, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. Just like the other recently introduced models of Mitsubishi, the Eclipse Cross will be featuring the Dynamic Shield design at the front. This has been highlighted by the automaker in the teaser images as well.

We cannot say when Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will make its way to the Indian market but, it is sure that it will play a major role in pushing the brand image in the global market. After merging with Renault-Nissan alliance, Mitsubishi is currently working on Pajero to push its sales in the respective segment in India. Once this SUV establish itself in a significant manner then Mitsubishi might introduce the Eclipse Cross in the Indian market to compete the other existing players in the segment.
