The much awaited American automaker has finally started its operations in India with its two loved models. Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and SRT has been launched today. To commence the Indian operations, Jeep has started dealerships in New Delhi and Ahmedabad for now. Later, the dealerships will be opened in Chennai, Mumbai in October and Hyderabad, Kochi, Chandigarh and Bangalore by the end of the year. The Jeep Wrangler is priced at INR 71.59 lakh while Grand Cherokee is priced between INR 93.64 lakh and 1.03 crore. The performance oriented Jeep Cherokee SRT is launched at a price of INR 1.12 crore which will be the flagship model for this American automaker.

The rugged style hardcore SUV, Jeep Wrangler has been introduced with only long wheelbase ‘Unlimited’ trim. Powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine with 200 hp power, the SUV is known for conquering any terrain with ease. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is equipped with 6-speed automatic gearbox and four wheel drive with heavy duty solid axles and a lockable centre differential. In the cabin, apart from comfortable seats and black color scheme a 6.5-inch U-Connect infotainment system is present.

The main focus of the company, Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in three different trims – Limited, Summit and the performance oriented SRT. The Limited and Summit variants will be powered from a 2.0-litre V6 engine which churns out a maximum power of 240 hp and paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the performance oriented SRT trim will be fuelled from a mighty 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine with an enormous power output of 475 hp. Just like the other two trims, SRT variant is also paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The average fuel economy across all the variants is between 10-13 kmpl.
As stated earlier, the American automaker will also introduce a locally manufactured third model by next year. The upcoming SUV will be tagged as C-SUV and might get the “Jeep Compass” moniker. The production facility is likely to start soon for this model at Ranjangaon facility where the manufacturer has invested approximately INR 1878.66 crore.
