A bad news for the Hyundai Eon owners, as Hyundai India has issued a recall for 7,657 units manufactured in January 2015. The reason of its recall is the clutch cable which might become a reason of damaging the battery cable and thus, need to be inspected. The replacement of the cable along with battery will be free of cost if found problematic. According to the Hyundai statement issued in public interest, Hyundai Motor India will voluntarily recall 7657 Eon cars and the owners of this batch will be notified in a phased manner.

Hyundai Eon has been in the Indian market for some time now and has established a significant image among the customers. Competing against the likes of Maruti-Suzuki Alto, Datsun Redi Go, Renault Kwid, and Chevrolet Spark, Eon has managed to maintain a significant lead in the segment. Available in two engine options, the 0.8-litre unit delivers 56 PS maximum power and the 1.0-litre unit, launched in May 2014 further push the power figure to 69PS. Both these engines are mated with 5-speed manual transmission.

Considering the present situation of the entry-level hatchback, the new entries like Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-GO have created a much intense situation and any loose nail left by the company might turn out negative. And a recall in such situation might not be a good signal for Hyundai. If you are an owner of Hyundai Eon manufactured between 1st – 31st Jan, 2015, which you will be notified soon then please visit the Hyundai service centre for a free check up. A damage in the battery cable will lead you with your car stagnant on road, and might cause even more damage.
What we recommend is do not wait for a call from the Hyundai officials, ask for the batch manufacturing date and schedule a free check-up.
