After achieving a milestone of 1 million global sales, Hyundai i20 has become a prominent model for the Korean automaker. According to reports, Hyundai Elite i20 will be soon available with automatic transmission. It is expected that the company will present the new variant in a couple of months and will start deliveries around the festive season.

Under the hood, it will be equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol motor, which will be able to churn out a maximum power output of 83 PS. The company has used the same engine in the Grand i10 as well but, the power output is slightly low when compared to European market, which gets 1.4-litre engine with 100 PS power. It is expected that Hyundai will present Elite i20 in the Magna trim along with either Astra or Sportz. In order to attract the customers with attractive pricing Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic may skip some features. To compete against the other prominent models, Elite i20 Automatic will be priced around INR 6.5 lakhs.

The other competitors like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz are already giving a hack of features and it will be interesting to see whether the Indian consumers will be compromising on the features front for Automatic transmission or not. Though Grand i10 is already available with an Automatic variant, it is high time that the elder sibling also gets it to further improve its market presence. Currently, the market is missing a diesel automatic variant and Hyundai holds a chance to fill this gap with its Elite i20. But, nothing is confirmed about the exact plans of the manufacturer and we still are waiting for the exact words from the Hyundai’s side. In addition to this, the Indian market is also expecting Hyundai i30 and hope the company introduces it in near future.
