After introducing the all-new BR-V in India, Honda is now gearing up to update its existing line-up. Showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, the Honda Accord Hybrid is all set to be launched in India on October 25. Bookings for the upcoming Honda Accord hybrid have already started across all the Honda dealers in India and being the only hybrid model in Honda’s Indian fleet, we expect that Accord will get a better response. The Accord was on sale in Indian market from quite a long time but, dropping sales count was the major reason that company discontinued its sales in the country.

Now the company is planning for Accord’s next innings in the form of a hybrid vehicle and let’s see how the new avatar performs in the respective segment. The Accord hybrid will house a 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine accompanied with two electric motors supported by 1.3 kW lithium-ion battery. The combined power output of Accord hybrid measures 196 hp while the peak torque measure 300 Nm. A petrol version of Accord is also on cards which will be powered by a 2.4-litre engine producing 185 hp maximum power.

The segment in which the Accord is placed has already received updated models from other competitors. The Toyota Camry hybrid, Volkswagen Passat and updated Skoda Superb all are well loaded sedans and have competitive pricing. The hybrid version has chrome finished grille, re-designed bumpers, and sharp sleek headlamps with LED strips. On the features front, it will have a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera, Apple CarPlay and 6-airbags. The features are quite in-line with the competitors offering and a price tag between INR 28 -32 lakh sounds quite appropriate for it.
Let’s see if Indians prefer a combination of hybrid and luxury over fuel guzzling engines or not.
