All-New Honda WR-V Launched In India


The car which made its entry in Brazil last year is finally now a part of Honda’s Indian lineup. Yes, Honda WR-V is launched in India at a starting price of Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new WR-V is inspired from its hatchback sibling, Jazz and shares the same platform. The latest entry from the Honda will face competition from Maruti-Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Hyundai i20 Active.

Under the hood, the WR-V is offered with two engine options. The petrol variant is equipped with a 1.2-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine which delivers 89 hp maximum power and 110 Nm peak torque. The diesel variant comes with a 1.5-litre DOHC i-DTEC engine that delivers 99 hp maximum power and 200 Nm peak torque. The petrol variant is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission whereas, the diesel engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda claims the fuel economy will measure 17.5 kmpl for the petrol and 25.5 kmpl for the diesel variant. The exact numbers will be out when the car will hit the Indian roads.

In the cabin, the list of equipment includes 7-inch infotainment system with audio, video, and navigation, steering-mounted controls for HFT audio, voice command and cruise control. The other soothing features include automatic climate control with touch control panel and one push start/stop button (only in diesel variants). For luggage, the boot space is 363-litre wide and the tailgate opens in just 0.6m space.

The list of safety features in the all-new Honda WR-V include advanced compatibility engineering body structure, dual SRS front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD), Impact mitigating front headrest, pedestrian injury mitigation technology, intelligent pedal, and multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines (limited to VX trim).
