2017 Tata Tiago AMT Launched In India


After getting a significant response on the manual version, Tata has recently introduced the automatic version of Tiago. Yes, 2017 Tata Tiago AMT has been finally launched in the country at a price tag of 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Tata Tiago AMT gearbox is a five-speed unit which also features Sport mode and ‘creep’ function. The AMT also comes with a City mode function which is quite similar to the manual gearbox. In addition to this, Tiago AMT will also offer an option of changing the gears manually if required.

In terms of design, the Tiago AMT has not received any changes and the AMT version measures 3,746 mm in length, 1647 mm in width and 1,535 mm in height. The wheelbase rest at 2,400 mm. Though the dimensions are similar to its key rival, Celerio, the Tiago is 150kg more in weight, which helps in improving the overall performance. The Tiago’s design is quite out of the box than the other hatchbacks in the segment, which has contributed in a mass attention from the consumers.

The power mill of the Tata Tiago AMT remains the same, which is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron mill which is indigenously designed by Tata Motors. The maximum power measures 85PS while the peak torque rest at 114 Nm. The engine is mated to an automatic gearbox. As usual, the AMT version will not be able to provide its best in the mileage section and a user has to rest between 13-15 kmpl in the city traffic. In the cabin, apart from automatic shift lever, the rest of the equipment and design remains the same.

Currently, the 2017 Tata Tiago AMT will face competition from the Maruti-Suzuki Celerio, Maruti-Suzuki WagonR, and Honda Brio. Let’s see if the AMT version manages to repeat the success of the manual version or it will have to face a setback in the respective segment.
