2017 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Revealed In Taiwan


The model which was discontinued in most of the major automobile markets has now received a major transformation. Yes, the Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi has introduced the 2017 Grand Lancer in the form of the updated Lancer. Though the car has been revealed in Taiwan, and there are no clues about its Indian launch, the car holds significant importance to ponder on the features it has been bestowed with.

The major transformation in the 2017 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer has been done at the front and the rear. To start off, the 2017 Grand Lancer now features the brand’s Dynamic Shield, which can be witnessed on most of the other recently launched models by Mitsubishi. A large chrome grille strikes that spectator and the chrome finish adds the sophistication touch in an effective manner. The headlights are sleek and now incorporated LED lighting. The side profile is quite similar to the previous version with the addition of dynamic lines on the doors.

The top-end variant also gets 18-inch alloy wheels to further improve the sportiness of the Lancer. At the back, the L-shaped LED taillights, revamped bumper, and a new trunk design continue the overall sporty theme of the sedan in a significant manner.

In the cabin, a new 3-spoke steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control and a new gear shifter are the highlighting parts. The cabin has been designed to reduce the overall NVH level across all the variants except the entry-level model. However, the top-end variant also gets leather upholstery and an optional digital instrument panel.

Under the hood, the 2017 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer is equipped with a 1.8-litre SOHC 4J10 inline-four which is capable of delivering a maximum power output of 140 PS and peak torque of 176 Nm. The engine is further mated to an INVECS-III CVT that delivers the power to the front wheels. The list of safety features includes hill-start assist, ISOFIX rear child seat anchors, six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
