Further extending the E-Class lineup in India, Mercedes has recently launched the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class long wheelbase at a starting price of Rs 56.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The base price is for E200 while the E350d version is priced at Rs 69.47 lakh (ex-showroom). Both the new cars are costlier than the previously available models. But, this higher price tag comes with advanced features and significant improvements.

The E-Class LWB measures 5,063mm in length, which results in an improved wheelbase resting at 205mm and more legroom which measures 134mm. The rear seats are also equipped with backrests that can be electrically reclined. There is also a central armrest which has illuminated storage and a USB port. Infotainment duties are handled by 12.3-inch Mercedes COMAND online system with 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system.

India and China are the only two markets, which offers E-Class with a long wheelbase. There are no major changes on the petrol and diesel engines of the E-Class and are carried from the previous model. The E200 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which delivers 184 hp maximum power and 300 Nm peak torque. Whereas, the E350d holds a 3.0-litre V6 diesel mill that develops 258 hp maximum power and 620 Nm peak torque. Both these engines deliver the power to the rear wheels and are coupled to a new 9G-Tronic transmission.

Safety measures include seven airbags, attention assist and the Mercedes PreSafe system. With 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, the German brand has raised the standards for its competitors. In a market where chauffeur driven luxury cars are preferred by business owners, a comfortable and spacious rear row is preferred and Mercedes has offered that in a precise package to cater the needs in an effective manner.
