2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Launched At Rs 5.45 Lakh


The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire was one of the most anticipated launches of this year, which has been recently launched in India at a price tag of Rs 5.45 lakh. However, the car was open for booking before the official launch. The diesel version holds a starting price tag of Rs 6.45 lakh. The prices are quite closer to the previous version and the company has ensured that the new prices are not way different from its competitors.

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the sub-compact sedan is based on HEARTECT platform, which is lighter, feature loaded and more comfortable than the previous platform. One of the key changes in the 2017 Dzire is the removal of ‘Swift’ from the nomenclature. As the sedan is already India’s top-selling models, Dzire has already gained a number of milestones and the 2017 model is expected to continue the momentum in an effective manner.

The styling is inspired from the next-generation Swift hatchback and gets a massive trapezoidal grille along with a raked A-pillar to get a more sedan-like stance. The new Dzire also gets projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED tail lights but, only available in the top-end trims. There are also three new color options introduced with 2017 Dzire which include Oxford Blue, Gallant Red and Sherwood Brown. The addition of 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels further adds to the premium quotient of the car in an effective manner.

In the cabin, the car gets a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, auto climate control, wooden finish on dashboard and door trims. In terms of safety, the 2017 Dzire gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and Brake Assist across all the trims as standard. The rear seats also get ISOFIX child anchorages.

Under the hood, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets the same but, more efficient powertrain now. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series 4-pot engine which delivers 82 hp maximum power at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm peak torque at 4200 rpm. Whereas, the diesel variant features a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that delivers 74 hp maximum power at 4000 rpm and 190 Nm peak torque at 2000 rpm. Both the options are coupled to a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission option. The ARAI certification states that petrol version delivers 22 kmpl while the diesel version will deliver 28.48 kmpl. Both these figures are exceptional in the segment.

The 2017 Dzire will compete against the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, Tata Zest, Tata Tigor, Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze. Let’s see how the new avatar will perform in the particular segment.
