2017 BMW 5 Series Leaked Ahead Of Its Launch

It is obvious that auto enthusiasts are quite curious about the next-generation cars of facelifts but, when information gets leaked before the official launch it is heartbreaking for the automaker and this time this is the case with BMW. Yes, the 2017 BMW 5-Series information has been leaked ahead of its official launch, which is on 13th October. Looking at the images, it is clear that the styling cues are inspired from the BMW 7-series while the overall design is evolutionary with more tauter surfacing and finely honed creases.

The aggressive bumpers and all-wheel design in the images is expected to be limited to the M Sport package only. In the cabin of 2017 BMW 5 Series, inspiration from 7 series follows with similar control surfaces, an all-digital instrument cluster and a large touch screen iDrive display. The updated 5 Series is based on the new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform and uses higher percentage of aluminium, leading to a reduction of 100 kgs in the overall weight. The powertrain options will be similar to the existing model. The list include four cylinder, six cylinder and V8 petrol units which will be further accompanied with four-cylinder, six-cylinder diesels along with an updated quad-turbocharged six-cylinder diesel restricted for 550d M Performance model.

The top of the range will be the BMW M5 which will be the revised version of the existing model with twin turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine churning 600 hp maximum power. For Indian market the 2017 BMW 5 Series will be launched next year. Considering the competition, the BMW 5 Series will be positioned against the likes of recently launched Jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6. The upcoming Volvo S90 sedan is also a solid competitor in the segment and will surely give a hard time to all the existing players in the market.
