2017 BMW 5 Series Finally Revealed

Before the official launch, 2017 BMW 5 Series images and information surfaced the internet. Today, the brand has made its official debut. The 2017 BMW 5 Series is 62 kg lighter due to the use of steel, aluminium and magnesium and has entered the 7th generation. One of the best sellings of BMW, the 5 Series is set to go on sale in February 2017 and the pricing will be revealed later. The 2017 5 Series is 36 mm longer, 6 mm wider and 2 mm taller than the existing model, even the wheelbase has been improved by 7 mm.

Legroom is also improved and the boot volume now measures 530 litres, improved from the existing version. Based on the new Cluster Architecture platform (CLAR), the M sport package will also feature aero kit and performance upgrades along with lower suspension and larger wheels as well as tyres. In the cabin, 6.0 infotainment system with gesture control, heads up display and 16 speaker, 600 watt Harmon Kardon sound system are some key highlights. The premium sedan will also offer better onboard comforts, quieter interiors with sound deadening materials and multi-contour massage seats.

Considering the 2017 BMW 5 Series safety aspects, the sedan will include airbag system, driver assistance, radar cruise control, lane departure warning system and lane keeping assist. The 3D surround view and ParkNow parking reservation system will further help the driver in making a safe parking. The list of petrol engine options include a 2.0-litre. 4 cylinder with 248 hp, 3.0-litre inline six cylinder with 335 hp. The diesel options will have a 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engine but will be offered in the market at a later stage.

Let’s see how this new 2017 BMW 5 Series will perform against the likes of existing players like Jaguar XF, Audi A6, Volvo S90 and Mercedes-Benz E Class. The Indian market will get the updated 5 series sedan sometime in the next year.
