After discontinuing it in 2014, the Japanese manufacturer, Mitsubishi has launched 2016 Montero in the country again. But now, the SUV is the updated version which is all set to do some serious business in the country. The 2016 Mitsubishi Montero has been launched at a whopping price tag of INR 71.06 lakh and let’s see if it can match the likes of other top guns persistent in the market from quite a long time. The 2016 Mitsubishi Montero featured classic rugged SUV lines but, is toned down when compared to the boxy Pajero Sport.

The horizontal lined front grille is still evident on the car and contains direct vents that channelize air to the engine in an effective manner. Even the fog lamps and front bumper have been revised with new DRLs integrated into it. The headlights of Montero are equipped with high discharge output, headlight washer and an automatic high beam which is controlled by a camera. The features of cabin include Rockford Acoustic Design sound system, infotainment system with Bluetooth and the rear seats can be folded easily to improve the luggage space.

Under the hood configuration of 2016 Mitsubishi Montero is a 3.2-litre, 16-valve, DOHC, direct injection, diesel engine which has been tweaked for a more refined performance and smoother torque delivery. The maximum power output is 192 hp at 3,800 rpm while the peak torque measures 441 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The SUV has a 5-speed automatic gearbox and has four driving modes – 2WD High, 4WD High, 4WD High with locked center differential and 4WD low with locked center differential. The suspension duties of 2016 Mitsubishi Montero are handled by a double-wishbone setup at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear.

Since the Montero will be brought via CBU route, the pricing is on the higher side. The 2016 Mitsubishi Montero will be positioned against the likes of Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and BMW X5.
