2016 Hyundai Elantra Launched In India

After much anticipation, the South Korean automaker has finally revealed the 2016 Hyundal Elantra at a starting price of INR 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The sixth generation Elantra has finally made its way in the Indian market with nine different variants, all-new petrol mill and an updated diesel version from the previous generation. While the starting price is much affordable in the segment, the top-spec model of 2016 Hyundai Elantra straight away touches to a whopping price tag of INR 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

From the series of teaser and spied images it was clear that the new Hyundai Elantra carries the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The overall body has received new sharper and crisp lines which gives it a slightly refreshed look from the previous generation. The bold, hexagonal grille with horizontal slats flanked by sleek HID headlamps are accompanied with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and the 16-inch gun metal finish alloy wheels with wide LED tail lights all together gives the new Elantra a much sporty look. Built on a new platform, the 2016 Elantra is bit longer than the previous generation model.

In the cabin, one can find features like 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric seats with ventilation for the front and leather wrapped steering mounted controls. In addition, features like smart key with push button start, safety escort headlamps, and Smart Trunk function are also present. Considering the power mills, the all-new petrol mill is a 1999cc motor which produces 152 PS maximum power and 186.32 Nm of peak torque.

The diesel mill is the same old 1582cc with updated power and torque figures which measures 128 PS and 260 Nm respectively. Both the engines are mated with an option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The D-segment has got a new entry with 2016 Hyundai Elantra and the sedan will compete against the likes of Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Jetta.
